TSJ DEEPDIVE
The Alamo Drafthouse is finally here.

If you’re a season TSJ reader, you know we’ve been waiting with bated breath for the opening of The Alamo Drafthouse forever. There are few things the Seaport is missing, but a beautiful movie theatre is certainly one of them…until this week.

That’s right. This Friday November 17th Alamo Drafthouse Cinema makes its grand debut in Seaport. After the closure of three theaters during the pandemic, Alamo Drafthouse is here to fill the void in Seaport, bringing a cinematic revival to the heart (and soul) of Boston.

Located at 60 Seaport Boulevard, the 10-screen, 780-seat theater is set to captivate your eyeballs…and your stomachs. The Alamo Drafthouse boasts a full kitchen catering to Alamo's renowned in-theater dining service.

Founded in Austin in 1997, Alamo Drafthouse has been a pioneer in elevating the moviegoing experience ever since. While others imitate, Alamo innovates. Ascend the escalator to be greeted by a giant statue from the film "The Iron Giant." The Press Room, the full-service bar at the top of the stairs, not only serves a variety of local beers, craft cocktails, and wine but also doubles as a movie ad museum with a collection of 60,000 mid-century ads from newspapers including The Boston Globe. We’re still working on getting the Inaugural Edition of TSJ on there. Stay tuned on this.

Tickets for opening-day screenings and beyond are now available, offering a wide variety of movies, with a balance of approximately 70% commercial, 20% indie, and 10% classic films weekly. Also, the team at Alamo is as big of fans of alliteration as your’s truly, so prepare for programs like Weird Wednesday, Terror Tuesday, and Champagne Cinema. Classic. For the big time moviegoers, Alamo sells their legendary Season Pass: for $29.99 a month, enjoy up to one movie a day along with exclusive perks.

While the theater's opening faced a slight delay while they acquired permits (boo government regulation!), opening week is officially here. So grab that popcorn, cancel that meeting, drop the dog off at Polka Dog Bakery, and head on down to Alamo Drafthouse during opening week to get 25% off the menu!
