TSJ DEEPDIVE
In Cod We Trust: Hook + Line is Seaport’s newest restaurant.
Hook + Line has officially dropped anchor and is now the newest seafood spot in the South Boston Waterfront (government speak for “Seaport”).
Located at 10 Fan Pier Boulevard, Hook + Line has opened, alongside its companion H & L Market, with Thomas Schlesinger-Guidelli of Alcove fame at the helm, while Chef Mark Cina is the artist behind the menu.
The dinner menu at Hook + Line.
Perusing the offerings at Hook + Line reveals a maritime feast: clam chowder, stuffies, fish and chips, grilled swordfish steak, fried clams, grilled salmon, and the pièce de résistance – lobster rolls.
Thomas Schlesinger-Guidelli, a disciple of the esteemed restaurateur Chris Schlesinger, has charted an impressive course through Boston culinary landmarks such as East Coast Grill in Cambridge, Island Creek Oyster Bar in Kenmore Square, Craigie on Main in Cambridge, and the Back Eddy in Westport. This is clearly not Schlesinger-Guidelli’s first rodeo (or whatever the nautical equivalent of a rodeo might be).
The ambiance of the restaurant was crafted by local architectural design firm Ruhl | Jahnes, renowned for their expertise in residential projects (including their work on Alcove, where they first engaged with Schlesinger-Guidelli). The restaurant and the market both embrace a coastal aesthetic, but they notably steer clear of clichéd nautical motifs - something TSJ obviously can’t resist.
With all of that said, please do not take our word for it. A in-person visit is encouraged to fully appreciate the vibes and of course the food. For those eager to embark on this seafood odyssey, make sure to try the lobster roll, and let us know how it is! We’ll feature your pics in next week’s TSJ.
